Hi bigkim,

"linkages" is a common business term. I am sure if you put "backward linkage" and "business" into the google search box, you will get a lot of information. You can also do the same thing with "forward linkage" and "business".

Let me know how that works for you.

i got total in my SBA and if u follow this format u will get this selction correct also, just pertaining to the business you have developed:

Linkages and Growth
In this business there are both Forward and Backward linkages. It retails goods and provides services to customers (forward) and it purchases goods and services wholesale from wholesalers (backwards). The business has potential for growth in which it is planning to open up other branches locally and internationally. The business is doing research to find out other ways to enhance its sales and increase production. It is investing in training its human resources in clothing and textile and providing an online service to customers’ which has information about the store and is products.

Backward linkage- this is when an already developed company help another business by supplying them with good n services an example is... a bakery that bakes bread will depend on another company for flour.
Forward linkage- this is when a small business have to forward their unfinish product to another company for further processing eg. bauxite in Jamaica have to be sent to trinidad for processing by another comopany

10. Linkages-. A linkage industry is an industry which is associated or connected to other industries in such a way that the existence of one is dependent on the other, or it enhances the other’s production process. These industries are also referred to as ‘spin-off’ and ‘screwdriver’ industries. You will be required to:

(a.) state the type(s) of linkages your intended business will create and

(b) Why will you create those linkages?

i rlly need sme hlp ere.......what benefits r associated with Backward linkages i cant seem 2 figure it out...

"Backward linkages" - backward linkages occur when the demands on an industry lead to the establishment of other industries to provide for the needs of this industry.
eg:A producer of orange juice may find it necessary to set up orange orchards to supplies his needs for oranges rather than depend on farms to supply him with all his needs for oranges. The producer of orange juice has made a (backward link) for his raw materials.

guest (not verified) 10 October 2012 - 9:05pm

"Forward Linkages"- The finished producer of one industry becomes the raw materials of another industry.
eg: Producers of sugar (finished product) depend on producers of food items one beverages to purchase their goods since sugar is an important ingredient in most drinks and food items.

Firstly...When doing these questions, I suggest having the criteria infront of you so you can see where the marks are allocated. Think of your business...for

1) Internal Growth
How can you achieve this within your business..think on a smaller scale? Can you hire more labour? Move to a larger building perhaps? Purchase more/bigger equipment?

2) External Growth
Is there a large enough market for your product(s)so that you can expand in your level or type of production? Can you diversify, link up with others? (What other related products could be produced. What new products/services can you offer?

You don't have to answer ALL these question's within that question because it has to be flowing and there is a word limit...but this can just help with answering the question

can some please help me with the linkages present/exist in a music store

guest (not verified) 9 March 2013 - 5:05pm

Forward Linkage
If the final product or finished products of one industry is used in another industry as its raw material then a forward linkage occurs. For example, sugar produced from a sugar factory is used by a bakery to make pastries. Sugar is therefore the end product of one industry and used as raw material in another. Other examples include agriculture and canning, lumber and construction and cattle farming and meat processing.

A backward linkage occurs when the demands of an industry leads to the establishment of other industries to produce for the needs of this industry. For example, the establishment of several multinational fast food restaurants in the Caribbean has led to new businesses being established to supply these restaurants with raw materials (vegetables, ground provisions, meats and paper based products).

a bakery will benefit from forward linkages when it sells its products to different outlets,by this the business will then grow as more demand is being made for that particular good ,also it reduces the dependence on imported goods
