I did CSEC English A on Thursday. I did the comprehension, argument, and summary well. However, the essay based on the picture, I wrote an essay, that was on two sides of a page and (3/4). Moreover, I felt as if my essay will somehow resemble all the others. I used my simile, metaphor and vocabulary well. I wrote English A in January, and thankfully obtained a grade one. My question is what is an average grade one boundary for this year? Also would an overall percentage of 65% - 70% be enough to earn a grade one again?

Hi,

Congratulations on passing your CXC CSEC English A exam with a grade I! I am sure you were thrilled when you got the results in January!

With respect to the pass mark boundaries, CXC has never publicly released that information as far as I am aware. It is usually something they arrive at internally and they tend to keep that information very closed off from the public.

Based on the information above, you can probably guess that no one can say for sure what grade 65%-70% in the English exam will get you this May. You can be sure you passed, but what grade you will receive is more difficult to say.

I appreciate your reply to my question and read I have the blog you did, on not being to finish the comprehension as that was my main concern. But I'm a bit confuse with you blog as I was looking at the grading scheme percentages and the two comprehension combined which is 30 marks altogether and its a shows the weighing to bee 12% http://www.caribexams.org/eng_mkscheme#comment-17446 So the most I could have lost there was 12% base on the weighing of that section rite?. I saw you did a different calculation in the blog and Im confused with it. Please advise!!! Thanks

You sat CXC ENGLISH recently?? you worried about passing the ENGLISH exam?? and this is how you write???? OMG WOW.......................

I was really tired when I wrote the following, but I wanted my ask a question. I did not have time to check over what I had written as I usually would have done. I have passed English with a grade 3 already but going for a One now. Don't discourage a brother and be bashing like that. Give encouragement!!!! Thank You!

sorry man, you are right, I shouldn't bash you like that. I hope you pass your exams!

At least you care and are trying your best.

Hi Katie!!!!Im doing Office Administration on Thursday 24th. Can you provide me the the percentages weighing for the paper 2, paper 1 and the 3/2 paper. Many Thanks!!

I did not receive a reply to this? ANYone?

Ok Thank you for your reply.... but I'm now wondering why you all dont support the subject in Office Admin as you informed?

Hi Kojo,

We do not support Office Admin because we simply do not have the manpower resources to do so. We only support a few subjects where we feel that our resources will allow us to and which we feel will have the most impact.

Hope this information clears that up for you.

Hi,

I can't answer that question because I don't know how many questions you didn't answer, nor do I know how well you performed on the questions you did answer.

From where I am, there is no way I can honestly answer that question.

One of my friends wrote his essay in spanish with pencil. will his essay still be corrected?

Kojo (not verified) 26 May 2012 - 12:18am

When examiners are marking cxc papers...does an examiner mark the entire paper in a particular subject for a candidate or is the examiner assigned to mark a particular question from the paper... I'm just wondering?

The reason I asked is because they ask you to put the order of the questions you did in front of the booklet.... so I'm thinking that maybe they distribute the papers to various examiners for marking!

ANY ONE could answer this?
