May/June 2010 and forward

This exam is made up of two papers: paper 1 and paper 2

Paper 1

There are 60 questions on this paper. Each question is worth 1 mark.

All the questions are compulsory (you must answer all the

questions).

The total number of marks possible for this paper is 60

marks.

The marks you make on this paper contributes 33% to the

final overall grade you make for the math exam.

Paper 2
This paper has two (2) sections.

Section one is worth 90 marks - you have to answer 8 compulsory
structured and problem-solving type questions. These questions are based on the core objectives.

Section two is worth 30 marks - you have to choose two questions to answer out of 3 structured or problem-solving questions. Each question is worth 15 marks.
These questions are based mainly on the optional objectives of the syllabus.

The total number of marks possible for this paper is 120 marks.
The marks you make on this paper, contribute 67% to the final overall grade you make for the math exam.

* Note that 10 of of the 70 questions that you must complete for the exam receives 67% of the marks.

These 10 questions are on paper two (2) of the exam, therefore, you will need to score well on this paper in order to pass the exam.

it depends on how well the students do to see what percentage it is.

Hello,

CXC recently held seminars for regional journalists. In these seminars, CXC has said that they do not award "distinctions" for passes in the CXC CSEC exams.

Yes! I know! People have been saying they have received "distinctions" in the CSEC exams for years! However, this is what CXC had to say about it,

No such thing as Grade 1 Distinctions, says CXC Officials

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (GIU) – Officials from the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) set the record straight on Monday during a one-day seminar for journalists that they have never given distinctions to students who successfully complete the exams at Grade One level."

Yeah! Strange right? All these years people have been running all over the region talking about how many distinctions they received in their CXC CSEC exams, turns out that it is not possible to get "distinctions" in these exams.

Can an individual pass the exam by passing paper 1 only (eg. 30% on paper 1 and 20% on paper 2)or is it that a pass must be obtained on both papers?

i would like to know if a 55 out of 120 (in paper 2) and 46 out of 60 in paper 1 in maths will be a grade 3..i am soo woried

wat percentage is ones ,twos, an threes eg like 1=90,2=70,3=50

I recently wrote the maths exam and accidently answered 2 questions on the same page.
