Two careers, One choice

Hey friends!
I need your help? I have two careers in mind: to be an accountant and pursue a job in a computer related field. As a matter of fact, I wanted to pursue a diploma in Computer Science at the University of Guyana next year, but I am not aware of what will be thought. Although I love Principles of Accounts and know what has to be done, I love to work in a computer related field because computers are very fascinating device.
Anyone who is pursuing diploma in computer science or has any knowledge about what is primarily done, please give me a tip. This will help me greatly as to what career I should focus on next year. On the mean time, I’ll try my best to obtain information from the institution or try to abtain information from other friends.

Hi Toney, both careers are very good choices. Working with money is always a good choice ;-) and computer science is a growing field. The thing with choosing a career is that you would want to enjoy what you do for a very long time. This is so since you will be making a big financial and time commitment training for this career.

Viewing a career from the inside, when you are already a practicing professional is very different to how it looks from the outside; to people who are not members. My best advice to you would be to talk to a couple of people in both the accounting and computer science fields; ask them about their jobs and what they do on a day-to-day basis. Ask yourself if you would want to spend your days doing that. Does that type of activity 'fit' with your personality? You should also ask them what they like most about their jobs and what they dislike most about their jobs.

If you get the opinions of a few people in both professions, I think you will have a better idea about what life would be like working in both fields and you would be better placed to make an informed decision. I hope this helps.

Hi Nuclear
Thank you a lot for the link. With this piece of information, now I am more convinced to take the course. Thanks, Bro!! Best wishes.
