According to an article on the University of Guyana website, it gives us quite a moderate knowledge on the UGOEE (Open Entrance Examination).
Here is a summary of the points stated:
Applicants must acquire 5 subjects at the C.S.E.C examinations in one sitting or 6 subjects at the C.S.E.C examinations in two sitting will the mandatory subjects: Mathematics and English Language.
Applicants who does not have the above basic entry requirements, like me (I have wrote English twice and failed), can apply for UGOEE.
The below article gives us a general knowledge about the exam.

What is the UGEE?
The University of Guyana Entrance Examination (UGEE) is intended to enable Faculties to determine whether the applicants have acquired sufficient skills in reading, writing and reasoning, at a satisfactory level, to support study at the University level.
The UGEE is of three (3) hours duration and consists of two sections, a Language Skills section and a General Reasoning section.

Section 1 – Language Skills.

• Candidates will be required to write a composition of at least three hundred (300) words.
• Candidates will be required to answer questions based on a passage or other stimuli.

Section 2 – General Reasoning

Candidates will be required to answer Multiple Choice questions that test the following areas:
• Mathematical Reasoning
• Spatial Reasoning
• Basic General Science
• Basic Language Skills
• General Knowledge
They give a good source of knowledge but what they haven’t mentioned is when the next UGOEE will be conducted.
For all Guyanese students who have not acquired the basic entry examination can take this test. For most information, the source that you can read is http://www.uog.edu.gy/admissions/ugee
Anyone have knowledge about this. I’d love to hear from you.

Hey Toney, this is great information for Guyanese students! For those Guyanese students who may not want to go through the whole CXC English A exam experience again, it is great to have this alternative. You have more choices available in how you arrive at your career destination!

It is my understanding that everyone who sits the CXC exams receives a certificate giving information on the subjects sat and the grades received. If you are unsure, you can call or e-mail CXC for more information.

You can call or e-mail the University of Guyana to get more specific information on the University entrance exam requirements.

The contact information is:

Hey Fadelio08:
Smile... It sounds to me that you are tremendously worried... Sorry! I have failed only English but there's great news. According to http://www.uog.edu.gy/admissions/ugee it clearly stated that who does not have the below requirement mentioned is qualified to write the test.

From academic year 2005-2006, the new basic requirement for entry into DEGREE programmes at the University of Guyana will be five (5) CXC/GCE O-Level passes at ONE sitting, or SIX (6) passes at TWO sittings (inclusive of mandatory subjects required by individual Faculties).

Please note freind that this is only one exam. This means that no matter if you failed both, you are qualified for the test.

Hope this piece of advise has helped you... You can also see what I have done by clicking http://www.caribexams.org/node/338#comment-358

Need any other information, just post or send me a private message. Always glad to assist.
