Hi folks,

This is my first time writing the CXC CSEC English Examinations. I have had no prior experience in writing these exams but I'm going to say what I think everyone writing the exams should do.

Please take all work seriously. Practice writing all different sorts of essays whenever and wherever you can. Practice makes perfect and this will help you sort out your areas of weakness. Do try and iron out all kinks you may have before the exam date. You have this wonderful, informative website to help you, so take full advantage of it and please do try to participate in the blogging activities we have here. I promise you, once you try it out, you will enjoy it. Here, you learn at your own pace, so there's no hurry. When we interact with each other, we help one another in some way or the other. Yes, another very good point is reading! You should encourage yourself to read, read, read! The newspapers are good reference sources. I love reading and will read anything I get my hand on. Reading expands your vocabulary and can also help improve your imagination. I don't want to sound like a pompous-know-it-all so I'll stop here for now. Blog, blog, blog (smile)!
Peace out. More to come.

Excellent advice June! The easiest way to learn how to write well is to read. By reading you become familiar with different styles of writing and different ways to develop stories and arguments. This is very helpful when the time comes to write your own stories and argumentative essays.
