Well i'm not sure, but i think the Human and Social Biology paper is harder since we're going into the exam without an SBA.

guest (not verified) 9 February 2009 - 8:50pm

no it is much easier than Int Sc. or Biology. It is not as indept as those other two.

Miss McLean (not verified) 4 March 2009 - 2:53pm

I did h&s january and isn't harder but there is more pressure as 100% of your grade depends on what you do in the exam. If there was a sba,it would be a breeze!!

Kadene (not verified) 25 April 2009 - 8:21pm

i think its not gonna b tht hard, bcuz our bio. feacher is the bomb.... he gives us all we neeed to study for the exam...ie. past paper quest. and answers... good luck all ma fans

well if you genuinely love the subject, you will push out all efforts needed to satisfied the examiners. take it from Zavier, i proudly scored a grade one.

It was very challenging but once you studied and know how to apply ur knowledge it would seem pretty much easy..It was nice loved it got a grade one

Hi. This is the first time I'm doing H.S.B. or any other Science subject for that matter. Yesterday was my first H.S.B. class and we did Living Things and Cells. Our Home Work was to explain What is Active Transport. I found the definition for the term but don't really understand the definition. Can you help me please?

guest (not verified) 13 September 2009 - 11:57am

In reply to by chrissy9891 (not verified)

way to find your answer is to put "living things and active transport" into google and get the results. Do you think you can manage that?

HEY THIS IS MY FIRST TIME DOING ...AND I WISH FOR ALL THE BEST IN IT ...

Active transport- the movement of substances across the cell membrances using the energy from respiration Carrier molecules moved by the energy carry the substances from outside to the inside of the cell even against a concentration gradient

example sodium ions into cells some nutrients across the intestines and substances across the kidney tubules

there is this book name human and social biology by macmillian cxc revision question i find it to be very helpfull

Hi there...I did H&S bio 2wice & got a 4... I need some serious help.. Am taking it on for the last time (2010).

The trick is to study the systems first= bulk of the info
2nd - look at the linkages
3rd - locate some trusted free sites, along with someone with the experience to guide you [as misinterpretations are POSSIBLE]
4th - the answering techniq...have to run and finish some h work 4 2morrow
email: respondtoandrew@hotmail.com subject: HSB HELP !

I will only open "HSB HELP !"
I will have some more time b/wn Dec 21 to Jan 9 2010
exams r 20 WEEKS AWAY !!!!

what is the chemical made by plants from the nitrates they absorb from the soil?

HSB is easy if you learn your work but sometimes it's hard to remember everything. I did CXC in January 2010. HSB was ok but i did not pass and i know that. I saw what was comming so now i have an idea. I still need help to quz on what i did. If you find help please let me know please. Thanks.

Hello, as a teacher i would not say HSB is easier or more difficult that the other two subject. To put it simply its different. After teaching these subjects the problem which i have to cope with most of the time are Biology students who come into HSB thinking its a (very) diluted version of biology (less of a problem with int science students since they come in expecting something new). And thus are most of the time put back when they find that their biology knowledge doesn't put them above the rest all the time though it does help. HSB is a bit less broad and more in depth on the human and social part (hence the name) and i personally find it a more interesting and easier study since the students are studying a subject with a smaller focus area hence making it easier for them to inter-relate the ideas and concepts. Thats not to say that my biology student can do the same in their biology class.
Best of luck to all you guys taking the HSB, IS or Bio paper.

hi i can help in hsb

faith stuart (not verified) 14 September 2010 - 7:19pm

if ur doing bio n int... HSB shouldn't be difficult 2 analyze... itz my favorite subject I'm doing it next year.

SO DOES IT MAKE ANY SENSE TO DO BOTH HSB AND INTEGRATED SCIENCE BECAUSE I THINK IT IS BASICALLY THE SAME THING BECAUSE BIO IS A PART OF INTE...........THATS WAT I THINK

psychodellic (not verified) 4 October 2010 - 6:59pm

I can help with the Hsb subject, its a really cool subject and not as hard as it may seem. It really is stuff your suppose to know. If you need any help at all contact me cryssie1@hotmail.com

Isabella Connors (not verified) 7 October 2010 - 10:46pm

@babydrea In comparison to Biology and Integrated Science, I definitely think that Human and Social Bio is wickedly easier.. No doubt about that.. You basically learn about plants, animals, human behaviour, diseases, etc.. Biology I think is more in depth and challenging, not to say that H&S is a quick cup of tea but its more manageable. : )

HEY everyone..i know u must be excited since some of u are writing the exam in Jan...
If u all need any help with BIo or HSB...feel free to email me ur questions...i am not gonna do anyones homework :) but i am willing to clarify any misconceptions

about HSB vs BIO...like the previous teacher said...HSB deals with more human an social aspects..but with BIO what ever topic u cover on Humans/animals..there is a corresponding plant aspect to it..so HSB is less difficult overall...I do have some students that signed up for both..which doesnt make much sense ...my opinion...if u need bio for a future profession...do it...its a lovely subject...but if u just need "science" subjects to make up ur certificate..then do the HSB..

email me your questions if u would like..

Hello,
Well after working so hard with the BIO do u really want to switch? with labs esp...Bio gives u a lot more options when u need to get a job in the future than HSB...but if u choosin a non science field when ignore my last comment

Switchin should not be hard...Just get a copy of the HSB syllabus and see what u need to complete still....do lots of past papers and u should be good!!

let me know how it goes

mitosis and meiosis diffrences

riana (not verified) 26 April 2011 - 12:51pm

In reply to by kolasmallz (not verified)

mitosis is a kind of cell division which the two new cells are identical to each other.
Meiosis is a kind of cell division also(divides into 4), but it provides variation.

MITOSIS:
Produces Clones
Occurs in normal body cells
Nuclei have identical genes
Ensures the diploid number of chromosomes (all humans have 46 chromosomes n the body cells)

MEIOSIS:
Produces variation
occurs in the gametes
Ensures the haploid number of chromosomes (23)
Nuclei have genes mixed by crossing over

hey preparing 4 cxc

starGurl (not verified) 3 May 2011 - 7:51pm

In reply to by kolasmallz (not verified)

mitosis takes place in asexual reproduction and meiosis in sexual reproduction also mitosis produces identical individuals(clones) and meiosis gives rise to genetic variety

I want to wish everybody going exams all the best and remember to pray that you commit things to memory that you studied. It is my first time doing hsb too. Some things can get a little confusing to be honest. I wish this exam was an oral exam instead.
