Antigua Labour Party Rep. offers free Math classes for CXC exams June 2012

Antigua, St John's - ALP representative for St George, Dean Jonas, announced today that his branch is adding another component to the St George Community Education Programme, with the launch of CXC math classeson January 31.

Jonas said in a statement, "it is a well known and accepted fact that the level of performance in mathematics is not what it should be, with the result that many persons are unable to find employment or move on to higher education."

He said this was the reasoning that led his branch executive to agree that every effort should be made to help students pass the course at the CXC level, to increase their employment and further education opportunities.

The branch has partnered with Anthonyson King, an experienced mathematician, to offer free classes two days per week at the Community Development Centre in Pigotts, every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon until the completion of the 2012 CXC math exam in June.

Anyone signed up for the June 2012 CXC Secondary Education Certificate Examinations can register at the office in Pigotts at 5 pm on Tuesday, or by calling Jonas or any executive member of the branch.

Other education initiatives for the ALP St George Branch include free internet research services, and homework assistance for students at two locations in the St George constituency.

Jonas is the ALP spokesperson on education.
