According to Kaieteur News, page 12 dated 12th September, 2008 at the bottom left hand corner, it states:

There has been much speculation and various persons have made statements about the date when the University of Guyana will begin classes for the new academic year on the Turkeyen Campus. The University advises the general public not to pay any attention to such statements. As soon as the University fixes a date, it will announce that date through the Public Relations Division. The public is asked to await that official announcement.

While we are talking about deadlines, the deadline for applications to UTECH in Jamaica for September, 2009 is fast approaching. The deadline to apply, if you want to enter in September, 2009 is January 31st, 2009. The UTECH website says that the online application system in their website should be used when applying, and hard copies of documentary evidence provided to them by January 31st 2009.

If I remember correctly, someone last year in our group commented that it was possible to submit an application to UTECH pending the release of CXC results in March or August (You might want to call them or e-mail them and double check that).

So, if you are doing CXC exams this January or June, (2009) and you are interested in attending UTECH, Jamaica in September 2009, you might want to consider sending in an application about....now.

If not, you will have to wait another year for applications to come around again.

And, UTECH also has an entry route for mature students. Yeah!
This is what they say:

Mature Entry Requirements

"Persons who are 25 years of age and above, who are not eligible for admission under the normal entry requirements, may apply for mature entry. The application must demonstrate their potential for undergraduate university studies by virtue of attainments, prior learning and/or relevant work experience, all of which must be relevant to the proposed programme of study. In addition, the application must be supported in writing by individuals having first-hand knowledge of the applicant’s potential. Applicants’ knowledge, skills and competencies will be evaluated under the University’s Prior Learning Assessment Policy, in order to determine their equivelencies to the University’s entry requirements. They may be required to attend interviews."
